Ethical Issues Surrounding GMO's
Some argue that altering the genetics of an organism is playing God, and will ultimately result in only pain for the human race. Others argue that if our food is going to be genetically modified, we should be aware; the food labeling laws need to be changed. Here are some examples of complaints regarding this technology:
Cloning
One of the most prominent issues with cloning is the concept that a clone is not necessarily "alive." It is simply a piece of science. Most people believe that life begins at conception and can only be the product of unity between a man and a woman. It is also feared that a clone would not be treated as a person, for obvious reasons.
Stem Cell Research
Stem cells come from aborted fetuses 99.9% of the time and this upsets people. How could someone use a life for their benefit? This is the largest issue with stem cell research. Some people go as far as to say that those who support stem cell research support abortion.
Human Genome Project
One problem with the Human Genome Project is the cost. Most people argue that the cost of the project was not justified. Only 5% of human genes are used in coding and mapping the other 95% is nearly pointless.
