Natural Selection influences a species' traits over time because it is essentially survival of the fittest. This means that whichever organism in the species has the traits best suited in its environment will survive, while the others go extinct. For example, the light colored peppered moth (Seen above) thrived before the Industrial Revolution. However, following the Industrial Revolution, the Dark colored one thrived. How so?
